The City of Beaverton undertook a major transformation to implement an enterprise-wide electronic permitting system that required major workflow changes by several divisions. I served as the organizational change management consultant and trainer for this initiative, advising management and the change steering team how to navigate the significant changes driven by this this high-visibility implementation.
I formed the steering team, facilitated their periodic meetings, led their joint briefing and decision-making sessions with the senior management team, and taught them skills they could use to manage future change themselves.
I designed and delivered custom training sessions on change management for managers, change leads, and implementation teams. These combined formal instruction with applied practice and coaching to build lasting capability. This combination of teaching, coaching, and facilitation improved coordination and buy-in across departments, strengthened decision-making, and supported “go-live” of the new permitting system. It built lasting change management capability to support both the new permitting system and future organizational changes.
