My Favorite Reference about Project Management

Fast Forward MBA in Project Management, 6th edition

This updated edition by Eric Verzuh is written for someone in the trenches who is actually leading a project, whether a career project manager or an accidental project leader.  This is a good book for people on your team who run projects or are on project teams, and it deserves a place on your reference shelf for the times when someone asks you for guidance.

Weighing in at about 500 paperback-sized pages, the new sixth edition is still a classic and readable reference to almost any project management topic you can think of.  It gives at least as much space to the “soft” aspects of leading a project, such as stakeholders, leadership, and teams, as  it does to more technical topics such as earned value.   There are new chapters on what it means for a project manager to be a leader and how to manage creative projects, such as media.   It also improves the material on product lifecycles and how to select from the predictive and agile toolboxes.
